Beautiful fall day for a sail, though a little brisk (51 degrees). Sun was out, the winds were 10 knots and the waves were 1-2ft. It was comfortable when the sun was shining on the cockpit, but cooler when the sails blocked the sun.
11-October-2015 – Touched 7.1 knots with gusting winds
Great day for a sail with my wife and brother. Temps to 70, waves 2 – 4 with winds gusting to 22 knots.
Before we headed out, we stopped at the fuel dock to add a couple of gallons of diesel. A day earlier the engine died on us due to air in the fuel line. Adding the additional fuel was an effort to hopefully prevent that from happening again. It worked.
When we first hit the lake the wind was blowing pretty good and we started with a reef in the mainsail. Even then, we touched 7.1 knots pretty quickly.
10-October-15 – Nice sail with my daughter and her friends…then the engine died when we were heading back to the marina.
Nice fall sail…then our engine died as we were preparing to return to the marina. All turned out well as we got the engine running again.
We were heeling pretty good with some waves when I started the engine. I suspect that with the fuel tank 1/4 full, the dip tube sucked air.
20-September-15 – A nice fall sail
13-September-15 – 4 to 14
Light winds (4 knots) with respectable gusts (14 knots).
6-September-2015, Beautiful day for a sail.
Beautiful day for a sail. Went with my brother and a friend. There was probably the most other sailboats out that I’ve seen all season.
Project – Installing a boarding ladder
5-September-2015
Today was a project day with a test that required anchoring out and taking a dip in the lake.
Project – Replacing the mainsail slugs.
30-August-2015
No wind on the lake today so all we did was a little maintenance project. A couple of the mainsail slugs had broken over the last few weeks so I bought a new set from Sailrite.com and today we installed them.
23-August-2015 – Fast sailing to 7.6 knots!
High winds (15 – 20 knots gusting to 28) made for a great day sailing. We were ripping along at 7.6 knots soon after we raised the sails.
22-August-2015
Great day for a sail.
