Had a great sail until a storm popped up on RADAR. Had to head back in hoping to get back before it hit.
5-July-2015
Nice sail with my daughter, my niece and my niece’s boyfriend. We had about 1 hour of good breeze and got to 5.3 knots.
3-July-2015 – Another day with little wind
Enjoyable day sailing with my wife.
“Thanks Dad” 28-June-2015 – Little to no wind
27-June-2015 First sail if the season
26-June-2015 Bring the boat to the marina from the boat yard
Brought the boat from the boat yard to the marina. The boat was put in the water earlier in the week. I left work a couple hours early on Friday to install the new hand rails before moving the boat to the marina. It was a bit rainy when I was working on the hand rails, but had stopped by the time we left the boat yard.
Bottom painting
(Friday 17-April-2015)
With the weather foretasted to be warm (low 70s) and dry for a couple days, I took Friday as a vacation day to bottom paint the boat.
I set up a video camera and taped myself in time lapse.
When we first painted the bottom in 2012, we painted the lower part of the transom expecting that is would be in the water. Turns out it is not. So I sanded the bottom paint off there in preparation of painting it with topside paint.
Removed the tarp
(Saturday 4-April-2015)
My brother and I removed the tarp and frame. Also put the boom back in place.
We are happy with the new frame design using 2 1/4″ PVC. It held up much better than the 3/4″ PVC we used the prior to winter seasons.
Winter Checkup III
(21-Feb-2015)
It has been several weeks since the last check-up and in that time we have had about 24″ of snow and some very cold temperatures. Down to -8 degrees Fahrenheit WITHOUT the wind chill. The tarp and frame are doing very well and there was very little snow that worked its way inside the tarp.
While there we also made some final measurements for the new chain locker cover we are making.
Winter Checkup II
Friday 2-January-2015
I went to check and make sure the tarp is ok.
It’s been 4 weeks since I last checked on things. Weather forecast is calling for rain/sleet/snow tomorrow.
While there I removed the cockpit coamings to refinish or perhaps make new ones.
Also, remove the hand rails from the starboard side. On my last visit I removed the port side ones.
I also removed the manual bilge pump. It is an old “Whale Gusher 10” that doesn’t work, so I’ll see if it is salvageable. It looks to be very corroded.
For a Christmas present I asked for and got a wifi action camera. It is a SJCAM SJ4000 (GoPro knock off). I used it for this video. The video looks pretty good, but I had it in its waterproof case so my narration while taking the video is non existent. I had to re-narrated the video when I edited it.
